BOCA RATON, Fla. – Members of a Florida Atlantic University fraternity used Apple's release of the new iPhone 5C and 5S to put a new spin on fundraising, according to WPLG Local 10 news station.
They stood for hours Friday morning selling their coveted spots near the front of the line in order to donate the money to charity.

"We've been here since 10 o'clock [Thursday night]," Delta Tau Delta - Iota Nu chapter vice president Patrick Gober told Local 10's Liane Morejon, shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. "We were off the mall grounds until they let us come on, but we got some good spots in line."
Gober and his fraternity brothers sold their spots in line for $100 each. The money will go to their fraternity's national philanthropy, JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Delta Tau Delta is hoping to top the amount they made doing the same fundraiser when the iPhone 5 was released last year. That time, they were able to give JDRF $4,500, raised by selling their spots and donations from others who were waiting in line.
While it's a long night with no new iPhone at the end for these college students, Gober says that's fine by them.
"Right now, we're all pretty sleep-deprived, but we're in good spirits and just looking to give out our spots."
