FEMA seeks property owners with empty units to house disaster survivors

Temporary housing needed for those affected by hurricanes

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued a plea to property owners with multiple vacant units to lease their housing units to disaster survivors.

Properties can be eligible for the Multi-Family Lease and Repair program even if they are damaged because FEMA will identify and make necessary repairs.

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico just weeks after Hurricane Irma swept through Florida. Since then, housing has been difficult to find for evacuees fleeing from the island to Central Florida.

Any property owner who is interested in participating in the program to provide housing to disaster survivors is encouraged to email FEMA-MLR-PR@fema.dhs.gov. Click here for more information from FEMA.
