Homeowners say couple stole checkbooks, keys

ORLANDO, Fla. – Flagler Country Sheriff's detectives are searching for the couple who was caught on surveillance video burglarizing a Palm Coast home--all while the homeowners were inside.

Video surveillance shows a man and a woman shown parking in front of the Covington Lane house in a black or dark blue, late 1990s model Ford Explorer with chrome mirrors. The man got into the house through a bathroom window and exited minutes later, carrying a black box, and quickly made his way back onto Covington Lane.

A husband and wife were inside the home at the time.

The woman told deputies she entered her guest bathroom and noticed the window was open. She then noticed a door to a third bedroom that is normally open was closed. When she found it locked, she alerted her husband, who then kicked open the locked door but found no one inside. However, the blinds in a window were swinging and the screen had been pushed out.

The couple checked for property stolen and noticed a black box containing checkbooks, two watches, cash and keys to a vehicle was missing from the kitchen counter.

The duo is described as a white female with a dark pony tail wearing a brown tank top and blue jeans, and a thin, white male with short, dark hair wearing a "Famous" shirt, jean type shorts and black sneakers. The male also had gloves on and was carrying a pry tool in his hand.
