Florida homeowners sued over teen's DUI death

Car lost control, crashed into palm trees

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The parents of a South Florida teenager killed in a February drunken-driving crash have sued the homeowners where the driver attended separate parties.

The Palm Beach Post reported that the parents of 18-year-old Jamie Allen claim the two homeowners did not take adequate steps to prevent people under age 21 from gaining access to alcohol. The case is pending in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

The lawsuit said Allen first attended a Super Bowl party on Feb. 3 at a home in Lake Worth. Then, she and 19-year-old Christopher Moffitt went to another party at Moffitt's house in Lantana. Later, Moffitt lost control of his car and crashed into several palm trees, killing his passenger Allen.

Moffitt has pleaded not guilty to a DUI manslaughter charge.
