Indian River deputies find TV stolen from deaf man

Man's roommate arrested on grand theft charges

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. – To Carl Johnson, his iPad and television are important tools that he uses to connect with the world. That's because he is unable to hear.

Both of those items were stolen yesterday from the group home where Johnson lives in Indian River County, police said.

Witnesses told police that they had seen Johnson's roommate, Michael Palmer, carrying both items. Palmer ran when he saw approaching deputies, according to the report.

Indian River county Sheriff's Deputy Greg Farless chased him on foot and arrested him on grand theft charges. He was also charged with resisting arrest.

Palmer said to have already sold the iPad for drug money and told deputies the location of the stolen television, according to the report.

Johnson is still missing his iPad, but was happy to have his television returned, deputies say.
