Lake County commissioners pay $5K to fund Lake Minneola busing

$5,300 goes toward courtesy busing for 100 students

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Commissioners in Lake County have decided to allocate nearly $5,300 to bus students around the Lake Minneola area.

During a meeting Tuesday, it was decided that the commission would fund busing to Lake Minneola High School, which affects about 100 students.

The Lake County School District previously funded busing to the school, but said in December that funding would end after the first week of classes.

Though Lake County commissioners previously said that it is the school district's responsibility to fund student transportation, they agreed to fund the buses to ensure student safety.

Before the decision to fund the Lake Minneola busing, commissioners planned to focus their attention on building sidewalks to keep students safe while commuting.
