Man shot himself in head while in chatroom

Police say it was not suicide, following investigation

OMAHA, Neb. - Police say the death of a 19-year-old Nebraska man who shot himself in the head while in an online video chat room has been ruled an accident.

A Florida man who logged on to the chat the next morning reported the shooting in early March. Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey said the Florida man knew the Nebraska man and called police after he logged in to the chatroom the next morning and saw people were talking about it.

Capt. David Stukenholtz says Monday that Bellevue police (Nebraska) decided Trevor George's early March death was not a suicide after interviewing witnesses and reviewing computer records.

Police also determined George wasn't coerced into shooting himself when he held a revolver up to his head and pulled the trigger.

Stukenholtz says several people who were in the Tinychat video chat room George was logged into told police they previously had seen him put a gun to his head. Stukenholtz says it's not clear why the gun was loaded this time.
