Man arrested in fatal Marion County shooting

Surviving victim airlifted to Shands, deputies say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting in Marion County.

Marion County deputies said the shooting occurred around noon on Tuesday near the intersection of County Road 42 and U.S. 441. Deputies arrested Richard Drake, 43, of Summerfield, in the Orange Springs area late Tuesday.

Drake was arrested in the Orange Springs area and  booked into jail on murder charges. He's expected to face a judge on Wednesday.

A 19-year-old victim in critical condition had been airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Police said the victim is expected to survive. The deceased person is a 23-year-old man.

Their identities haven't been released.
