Marion County deputy accused of making harassing phone calls

Rhonda Steplight-Jones under internal investigation

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Marion County sheriff's lieutenant has been suspended from the department on Tuesday after being accused of making harassing phone calls.

According to a release from the sheriff's office, an internal investigation is underway to determine whether Lt. Rhonda Steplight-Jones has violated their code of conduct.

Steplight-Jones was assigned to the Marion County Jail and has been with the sheriff's office since Oct. 1998. She has been suspended with pay, according to the report.

No other details were immediately released, but Marion County sheriff's office has said Steplight-Jones' suspension isn't related to the investigation into former sheriff' candidate Dan Kuhn.
