'Stand your ground' law saves Florida man from murder charge

Colt Thriemer not charged in fatal shooting

SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, Fla. - A man accused of shooting and killing another man in the parking lot of a Walmart in Marion County will not face any charges.

On July 9, Colt Thriemer shot and killed Thomas "TJ" Brown after the two got into a fight in the parking lot of the Walmart in Silver Springs Shores.

In a new report, prosecutors say Brown had been threatening to kill Thriemer for months, so when Thriemer was confronted outside the store, he was justified, via the state's "stand your ground" law, in using deadly force, officials said.

Brown's family says they feel hurt by the decision, claiming it was not a case of self-defense.
