Missing Florida girl found safe; man sought, deputies say

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shortly after a Florida Missing Child Alert was issued Wednesday evening, a 4-year-old Gainesville girl was found safe, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said.

WJXT-TV reports the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued the alert about 7:45 p.m. after Gabrinna Nelson was last seen in the area of Northwest 8th Avenue and Northwest 34th Street in Gainesville.

Authorities said the child may have been with 44-year-old Gary Nelson, who was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. Authorities said they were believed to be traveling in a red 1999 Ford Taurus with Florida tag number Y63AMU.

Gabrinna was later located unharmed, deputies said. It's unclear where she was found.

Deputies said they're still looking for Nelson, who is described as being 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighting 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach, but to call 911 or the Alachua County Sheriff's Office at 352-955-1818.
