New report ranks hospitals for safety and care

Consumer Reports says hospitals in Florida need work

ORLANDO, Fla. – Consumer Reports says that dozens of hospitals in Florida have a lot of work to do.

The agency just released its first-ever safety ratings of hospitals in America.

They were ranked on a scale of zero to 100, based on things like infection and death rates, communication among staff, and safety and complication issues.

45 hospitals in Florida were ranked, and half of them were below the national average of 49 points.

According to the report, the best in the state is Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

The most unsafe is Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
