ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County deputies arrested a woman after a naked, beaten child was found walking in the road.

Deputies said 32-year-old Avril Giovannie was arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse with a weapon.

The incident happened on Friday around 5:15 p.m. after deputies said a child was found running on the street with no clothes on.

Deputies did not identify how old the child was, but said they saw bruises, scratch marks and blood on the child's left hand. Deputies also noticed a possible arm fracture.

A witness saw the child crossing the street and crying, and deputies said witnesses gave the child a shirt to put on while 911 was called.

Upon further questioning, deputies found out the child was told by Giovannie to get in the house after becoming upset with the child.

Deputies said Giovannie told the child to take a bath, and while naked in the bathtub, she started beating the child with a stick on the arms, leg and back.

The child was able to sneak out of the house and ran looking for help, said deputies.

Deputies went to the home and found a broken toilet plunger which was taken into evidence.

Giovannie denied hitting the child.
