Family's home in crossfire in Orange County

One man seriously injured, but family safe

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County family is counting its blessings Saturday after a bullet from a shootout shattered a living room window and tore through the family's kitchen.

No one inside the home in the Millennium Palm Condominiums was hurt, but one man outside was hit and rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

Orange County deputies said the shooting happened near Texas and Holden avenues around 9 p.m. Friday. When deputies got to the scene they found the injured victim at the Buchanan Bay Apartments next door.

A woman who only wanted to be called Tiffany told only Local 6 she and her family were inside their home when they heard 10 to 12 gunshots. Along with her two-year-old son, they hit the floor before realizing a bullet came inside and hit the microwave, dropping to the ground near their wine rack.

"Had it just been a little bit earlier one of us would've been hurt and for it to just be one guy out of everybody that's uncalled for," said Tiffany.

Tiffany says her son had just left the living room when the gunshots rang out. Now she's emotionally recalling their close call and praying authorities catch those responsible, she said.

"I hope they catch them. I hope everybody gets what they deserve because you put other peoples' lives in danger and that's not cool," she said.

Deputies say they don't have any new leads or information about the person or people responsible for the shooting. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
