Mom hit son in head with glass bowl, Orange County deputies say

Officials say woman frustrated over how long it took for boy to wash dishes

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother was arrested on suspicion of hitting her son in the head with a glass bowl while he was washing dishes, Orange County deputies said.

Micheline Avril's son was at her house washing dishes last October when she knocked him to the ground, deputies said. The boy did not come forward with the information until June.

According to officials, Avril became frustrated because her son was taking too long to wash the dishes. She lost her temper and struck him in the head with a bowl, deputies said.  Avril's daughter was in the home at the time of the incident.

The next day, she took her son to a walk-in clinic, where she instructed her son to lie to the doctor and say he had fallen on glass, deputies said.  His injuries required several stitches.

Currently, Avril's son is in the custody of his father.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office had Avril come in for a voluntary interview, where she remorsefully admitted to striking her son in the head out of anger and frustration, according to deputies.
