Mother of slain Winter Park teen: 'I can feel him in my heart'

Vigil held Friday night for Roger Trindade

WINTER PARK, Fla. – On Friday, the mother of Roger Trindade, the 15-year-old who was killed last October, stood just feet from where her son was beaten, and spoke fondly of her boy.

"I don't have bad feelings in my heart,” Adrianna Trindade said. “The feelings I have in my heart (are), I'm going to miss Roger forever. I'm gonna miss his smile forever."

Adrianna Trindade said this park brings her closer to her son.

"I don't feel anything here,” she told News 6. “I love it so much. This place, it was so really nice. I  can't believe something like that happened here. It's unbelievable.”

Many candles were lit and flowers were laid down in Roger Trindade’s memory, followed by a prayer.

Adrianna Trindade said it was difficult to look at the three teens in court this week, who are charged with her son's death.

"It’s hard because I have to look at this boy, these boys, and they're kids,” she said. “I think it's the parents -- you have to care for the kids, you have to know where they are (and) what  they're doing.”

The Friday vigil wrapped up with everyone holding a white balloon and releasing it for Roger.

"There is a lot of people that like Roger,” Adrianna Trindade said. “They love Roger. They miss Roger, and for me, it's really important, because I can feel him in my heart.”

The teens are expected to be back in court for trial Feb. 24.
