New East End Market reopens after brief closure

East End Market opens again after passing city inspection

A local market that shutdown just days after its grand opening plans to be back in business Saturday.

The East End Market, located in the Audubon Park neighborhood, had its grand opening last month. Shortly after, the market shut down because it did not meet certain city codes.

Developer John Rife said the market got the go-ahead from the city and plans to reopen on Saturday.

He released this statement:

"The delay until Saturday is actually testament to the fact that artisan products take time to create. You don't just turn the switch back on and extrude them from machine or peal back the plastic and reheat in the microwave. The next two days will be pretty neat behind the scenes. Now that the kitchen is up and running I am really excited to see these chefs and artisan purveyors able to operate as planned."

The East End Market features fresh, local and organic seasonal foods from 20 different businesses.
