Troopers investigating more fatal accidents

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers were investigating two more accidents that killed two people early Sunday morning.

Troopers said the first accident happened on State Road 429 around midnight, Sunday.

A 33-year-old driver was south, driving at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of his car, troopers said.

The driver swerved into northbound traffic where 45-year-old Philip Joeckel was driving, troopers said.

Troopers said Joeckel was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and the 33-year-old driver was killed.

Troopers said the second accident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday at Orange Avenue near the area of the Turnpike.

Troopers said a 47-year-old was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Orange Avenue.

Troopers said the driver lost control of his motorcycle at the curve, hit a guardrail and  was thrown from the bike.

Troopers said he was killed after the accident.

Troopers were not releasing the names of the two men killed, pending notification of next of kin.

As of Sunday morning, the total number of fatalities in Central Florida had reached seven people which included several head on accidents.
