Teen hurt in Orange County shooting

Teen in stable condition after shooting, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Deputies are searching for two men they say shot a 17-year-old boy outside an apartment complex Friday evening.

Flashing lights, crime tape and investigators are becoming a familiar scene at the Dunwoodie Place apartments near Americana Boulevard. This is the second shooting at the complex in less than a week.

Local 6 spoke to a woman who said she arrived home shortly after the teen was shot.

"When we pulled in to our parking space, the young man was lying on the ground bleeding," she said.

Deputies said someone shot the teen from the backseat of a 2004 four-door blue Chevy Cavalier and then took off. They believe the teen may have been targeted.

"I have three children and this was broad daylight, so of course I'm very, very nervous," said the woman, who didn't want her face shown. "Bullets have no name. What if I was in the house and a stray bullet hit me or my children? I'd be dead and gone too."

Just three days ago, a 46-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot in the same apartments by his roommate. With all the crime, the people who live in the area said they're fed up.

"It makes me nervous, I don't like that at all," said David Phillips. "It makes me think what kind of area am I living in."

Deputies said they are searching for that Chevy Cavalier, which fits a unique description.

"The vehicle has three shiny rims, the passenger rear is missing and the driver has a colored Mohawk," said Lieutenant Paul Hopkins.

The car also has four doors and tinted windows.

The teen is in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Deputies told Local 6 they don't believe the two shootings are related.
