Victim's family speaks after alleged DUI driver released from jail

Man arrested on DUI charges for causing fatal accident

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The family of a man killed in a DUI crash spoke to Local 6, calling it disgusting that the man accused of causing the crash is out on bond.

"To me it wasn't just a car accident. He killed my father. He wasn't supposed to die like that. We're looking for justice," said 15-year-old Pricila Gil.

She said her dad, 57-year-old Luis Gil, was coming home from his job as a maintenance worker when the crash happened.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a man they say caused the DUI accident that resulted in Gil's death.

"I'm only 15 and he's not gonna be with me on my birthdays. He's not gonna walk me down the aisle," said Pricila Gil.

Troopers said they responded to an accident at John Young Parkway and Deerfield Court around 2:04 a.m. Saturday.

Troopers said 44-year-old Eduardo Medina was traveling south on John Young Parkway behind another car. The light turned red, and the other drivers slowed to stop, but Medina continued at the same rate of speed, hitting another driver.

According to troopers that driver, Gil, was pushed into two other cars and was killed.

Troopers said the other drivers were not injured seriously and Medina was arrested for DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Medina was taken to the Orange County Jail where he bonded out later Saturday.
