Woman, 21, accused of stabbing mother to death in Orlando

Mother, daughter argued in car before fatal stabbing, investigators say

ORLANDO, Fla. - A 21-year-old woman stabbed her mother to death after an argument inside an Orange County home, according to sheriff's investigators.

Meagan Jones was arrested on charges of first-degree murder with a weapon in the death of her 65-year-old mother, Linda Jones.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said the mother and daughter were involved in an altercation outside their home on Weetamoo Circle in Orlando.  The two went outside and got into a car parked in the driveway, where deputies said the argument turned violent.

Linda Jones' pastor, Gregory Dawson, called 911 after receiving a call from Linda saying she had been stabbed by her daughter and was going to die.

Linda Jones was taken to Health Central Hospital, where she died, deputies said.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was called to the home because the victim cared for several of her grandchildren.

Investigators said Meagan Jones suffered a minor cut on her leg and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center before being booked into the Orange County Jail.

"You never know, sometimes something so simple can turn into something so drastic," said neighbor Glenda Bayns. "I'm surprised that it happened here."

According to records, Jones was arrested for punching her mother in the jaw after a verbal dispute in November 2012.
