Osceola County Clerk faces battery, assault charges

Court date set for Feb. 28

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - An Osceola County Clerk of Court faces battery and assault charges, according to Osceola County deputies.

Deputies said Malcom Thompson, 62, of Kissimmee, was delivered an arrest summons for one count of misdemeanor battery and assault.

Thompson has been the clerk of court since 2009. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement started investigating Thompson after receiving employee complaints that he shoved an employee on Dec. 29, 2011 and assaulted another on Jan. 10.

Thompson must report to the Osceola County Courthouse on Feb. 28 to determine what the next step will be.
