Principal arrested on drug charges resigns

2nd arrest for troubled principal

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - An Osceola County principal who was arrested for the second time by deputies has resigned on Monday, according to Osceola school officials.

Deputies said they arrested David Groover, who is the principal of Partin Settlement Elementary School in Kissimmee, Friday night. Officials said Groover resigned on Monday, effective on Tuesday.

Groover was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, delivery of methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Groover was taken to the Osceola County jail and later released on bond.

Groover was arrested in 2009, accused of DUI, but kept his job as principal.

Osceola County school officials told Local 6 because of the latest arrest, Groover will be reassigned away from the school, pending the outcome of the investigation.
