POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A Lake Wales firefighter was arrested in a road rage incident on Tuesday after police said he threw a water bottle at another driver's car.

Polk County Sheriff's Office officials said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 98 South and near Palmetto Avenue.

The two people in the car that was struck said they were changing lanes to pass another vehicle when they heard a loud popping sound.

The victims called police and followed the vehicle, which police said belongs to 24-year-old Dy'Sean Broome.

When Broome was pulled over, he told deputies that the victim's car cut him off in traffic, deputies said. He also said that "out of anger," he threw the water bottle out of his window, according to deputies.

"The victim had a visible red mark on her arm with minor swelling," deputies said.

Broome charged with battery on a person 65 years or older.‚Äč
