Publix expands service for online deli ordering

Customers can avoid lines by placing orders on cellphones

LAKELAND, Fla. – Publix has announced it's expanding its service that allows customers to place online deli orders.

In a statement released by the Lakeland-based company, the service allows shoppers to order custom subs, wraps and sliced meats and cheeses online or via mobile device by visiting publix.com/order.

Once on the site, customers may also specify pickup time. An order pickup number will be provided on the customer's final order summary which will also be emailed to them.

According to Publix, orders will be staged at a designated location in the deli department and identified with "Online Easy Pickup" signage. Sale prices for the store that are effective the day of pickup will be honored. Payment is tendered at the time of pickup and there is no minimum order or fee that is charged for the service.

"As we continue to provide our customers with the service they have grown to expect, we strive to offer new services that enhance their overall shopping experience," said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations.

"Publix Deli Online Easy Ordering is a natural extension of our service commitment, especially for our on-the-go customers."

The service debuted in August of this year and was expanded to 50 additional stores in an effort to better understand customer response and overall performance.
