Animals rescued near fire in Apopka

APOPKA, Fla. – The Apopka Fire Department said several animals were rescued from a shed fire on West 10th Street on Wednesday.

Investigators said they got a call for a structure fire and that smoke was seen nearly five blocks away.

Crews said various household materials were involved, including a forklift.

Chickens, rabbits and goats near the scene were rescued, according to the Fire Department

Two rabbits did not make it, according to investigators.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
