Deputies: SunRail contractor shot in robbery gone wrong

Gunman still on loose, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is searching for a gunman who they say shot a construction inspection team member for SunRail in an attempted robbery on Tuesday.

Deputies said the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery gone bad, where the victim told the gunman to get off the track for safety reasons. The gunman then approached the victim on Ronald Reagan Boulevard and North Street, asked for money and then shot the victim in the stomach.

The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.

Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the railroad tracks as deputies canvassed the scene searching for the shooter. Deputies said they called off the search for the night.
