Firefighters battle apartment blaze

Lightning may have sparked building fire

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County firefighters battled a 2-alarm blaze that damaged an Altamonte Springs apartment building.

Firefighters said they were called to the fire at the Promenade of Uptown Apartments at 375 Palm Springs Drive around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

A neighbor told Local 6 she heard a loud  bang while storms were in the area and said there was lightning all around.

Firefighters got to the apartment, and saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building.

Firefighters were able to knock out the blaze within 10 minutes and believed lightning was the cause.

There were no injuries reported.
