Sanford home destroyed by fire

Neighbors report lightning before house fire

SANFORD, Fla. – Seminole County firefighters were called to a home in Sanford after reports of flames coming through the roof.

Firefighters said they were called to the home before 1:30 p.m. Sunday after neighbors saw the fire and called 911.

Local 6 spoke to several witnesses who said there were several bolts of lightning in the area before the fire, making them believe that was how the blaze started.

The home was located on Michelle Lane, west of Interstate 4 in the Sanford area.

Firefighters said everyone evacuated the home and there were animals inside, although it is unclear if they made it out safely.

Firefighters said the 2-story home was a complete loss.
