Swimmer reported missing at Wekiwa Springs State Park found

Orange County deputies say missing person found alive and well

WEKIVA SPRINGS, Fla. – Deputies say a swimmer who was reported missing Wednesday afternoon at Wekiwa Springs State Park has been found alive and well.

Orange County deputies said they responded to the park after reports of the missing swimmer just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies said a witness reported a swimmer in the water never resurfacing.

Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the scene as authorities blocked off the swimming area.

A person who saw the news coverage thought he might have been the one rescue crews were looking for. Deputies said he returned to the park and was positively identified by witnesses as the person they believed did not surface.

Divers and rescue units cleared the area around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Orange County Fire Rescue assisted with the search.
