SpaceX's Dragon capsule remains on track to fly close under the International Space Station early Thursday, NASA and SpaceX have confirmed, according to a report by Local 6 news partner Florida Today.
The space station's Mission Management Team met Wednesday and was told Dragon has completed the requirements necessary to begin proximity operations, NASA reported.
In its first day of flight after launching from Cape Canaveral early Tuesday, Dragon completed a test of its Absolute GPS system, which communicates with NASA tracking satellites; free drift, in which the spacecraft thrusters are inhibited as they will be during grapple by the station's robotic arm; and thruster firings demonstrating two potential abort maneuvers.
