Accidents causes pile-up on I-4

Accidents plague I-4 on Sunday

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Interstate 4 at State Road 44 was is shut down westbound because of an accident.

Volusia County firefighters reported several accidents along the interstate that slowed traffic down for hours, Sunday afternoon.

Troopers said the first accident involved five cars near mile marker 125, but that accident had no injuries and was just all fender benders.

The next accident happened eastbound on I-4 at Orange Camp Road and had one lane shut down, but was off to the side of the road.

Another accident had Interstate 4 westbound completely shut down, but so far there was no word of how many cars were involved or injuries.

Volusia County firefighters said they were able to move all the cars off the road and the interstate was opened within 20 minutes.

Florida Highway Patrol continues their investigation into all the crashes.

Troopers are urging people to be careful on the highways because of Bike Week 2014 in full swing.

It did not appear that any of the accidents on Interstate 4 involved motorcycles.
