Deputies said the robbery happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday after the driver of the Eco cab was dispatched to a sports bar on Howland Boulevard, where he picked up Cuerdas who said he wanted to be taken to another pub about four and a half mile away.

Deputies said along the way, Cuerdas pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victim's head and ordered him to pull over at a wooded area along Howland Boulevard.

Deputies said when the driver pulled over, Cuerdas told him to leave his cell phone and get out of the car.

Deputies said Cuerdas also stole the victim's money before driving off in the cab driver's black, 2010 Nissan Sentra. The car has a Florida tag CAPD19 and a sign with the word "taxi" on the roof.

The victim walked to a nearby convenience store and called 911 at 1:43 a.m. to report the incident.
