Volusia County sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting call just before 3 a.m. Sunday at a home on Seabreeze Drive.

When they arrived they found an adult male had been shot and killed.

Deputies said the victim was identified as Sanford Olson, 55.

Deputies said 911 was called from a home next door to where the shooting happened. The callers said a woman was banging on the door asking them to call 911 because she had shot her husband, deputies said.

Olson was found in bed with a gun beside him at a home on Seabreeze Drive, according to deputies.

The victim's wife, 57-year-old Doris Barrells, told her neighbor that the shooting was an accident, deputies said. Sheriff's investigators interviewed Barrells and said she was fully cooperative with the investigation.

Deputies said no charges have been filed and that autopsy results will determine if there will be charges.
