Deputies said the fight resulted from a conflict between the two men over the 42-year-old victim's girlfriend.

Deputies said they responded to the 300 block of West New Hampshire Avenue at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday and found the victim behind his home, bleeding and in pain, from a gunshot wound to his leg.

Deputies said the victim's girlfriend was there as well and directed deputies to the scene of the shooting, 1225 South Parsons Avenue, which is Barnes' home.

Deputies said the victim's girlfriend had been at Barnes' house when the he went there to get her and take her back to their house where they live together. However, as the victim approached Barnes' house, Barnes came outside armed with a handgun, deputies said.

The victim told deputies that Barnes appeared intoxicated and was very aggressive.

Deputies said Barnes demanded that the victim leave and the victim told deputies that he responded by backing away on the street.

Barnes then fired a shot, striking the victim in the leg and causing him to fall to the ground, deputies said.

Deputies said as the victim tried to crawl away, Barnes walked up, pointed the gun at him and yelled that he would kill the victim. The victim's girlfriend intervened, pleading with Barnes not to shoot the victim. The victim was then able to get back to his house.

The victim, was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg, deputies said.

Barnes was found at his home and arrested, deputies said.

Barnes was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on $80,000 bond.
