Edgewater body shop destroyed by fire

EDGEWATER, Fla. – Edgewater firefighters were called out to a body shop after a report of a fire broke out in one of the bays.

Firefighters said they were called out to 2335 Guava Drive around 5 p.m. Thursday after the workers inside called 911.

Firefighters said there were five people inside the structure when the flames broke out, but everyone was able to safely evacuate.

When firefighters got to the building, they found the body shop was 50% involved in fire and immediately started to tackle the blaze, officials said.

Firefighters said they were able to put the flames out in about seven minutes and tried to salvage anything they could inside.

Officials said they were preparing to open the three bay body shop.

Firefighters said the total loss was about $175,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Edgewater Fire Department.
