Glass shards hit students after beer bottle thrown at Volusia school bus

Deputies investigate Deltona incident; Students uninjured

DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies are looking for the culprit who threw a beer bottle at a Volusia County school bus, causing glass to fly inside the vehicle.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Friday as the bus was traveling near Eustice Avenue and Providence Boulevard in Deltona.

The bus driver told deputies she heard a crashing sound and then screams from students.  When she stopped the bus, she discovered a window had been broken.

Deputies were called and discovered a Bud Light beer bottle on the school bus.

Three students were hit with shards of glass, but were not injured, deputies said.

Several of the students told deputies a Galaxy Middle School student whom they didn't known threw the bottle, according to the police report.

The students' parents were notified of the incident and deputies are investigating.

No arrests have been made.
