Man guilty in Volusia County fatal robbery

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A Central Florida man faces execution for the death of a man who died after being robbed and hog-tied to his bed.

A Volusia County jury found 42-year-old Joseph Jordan guilty Friday of first-degree murder and robbery. The trial's penalty phase begins next week.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that 50-year-old Keith Cope died as a result of injuries sustained when he was bound and gagged with rope and tape to his bed for four days in June 2009. He was discovered semi-conscious suspended from the foot of the bed by a rope wrapped around his left arm. Doctors amputated Cope's arm and he suffered a stroke, which left him in a vegetative-state until he was removed from life-support the next month.

Jordan's attorney argued that Jordan didn't intend for Cope to die.
