Volusia County Sheriff's Office investigating suspicious death in Deltona

Man found dead around 2 p.m. Saturday

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are at the scene of a suspicious death that occurred in the 1800 block of Montecito Avenue in Deltona on Saturday.

Deputies said a man was found dead at around 2 p.m. in Montecito Park.

A helicopter with the Volusia County Sheriff's office circled the park once deputies completed their investigation on the ground.

News 6 spoke with people at this park claiming to be the victim's family. They say he was a man in his late 40s who was an overall nice guy with his own faults and they have no idea how he ended up at the park or how he died.

"Very shocking and scary at the same time," neighbor Aycer Ginter said.

Ginter walks around the park almost every day and admits this is quite the mystery for her quiet community.

"You see the kids every day, and you're thinking they're not going to run into something like that, not here."

Ginter says some people worried when the brush was cleared to make way for the park, which was built less than a year ago. Now, like many others in the neighborhood, she wants to know what happened.

"We need to know, she said. "What are we looking for? Should I be walking on this street? What if it was just some random person walking?"
