Former Satellite High science teacher accused of lewd conduct

Charles Krininger III arrested on multiple charges

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. – A former Satellite High School science teacher was arrested Wednesday on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and promoting the sexual performance of a child, according to Brevard Public Schools.

Charles E. Krininger III taught science at the school from 2006 until Feb. 2016, when the school received a student complaint and he was put on administrative leave.

A student told police that Krininger asked her to stay after class one day and while they were speaking, he made comments about sex, according to an arrest report.

Krininger told the girl to film an inappropriate video of herself then post it to a Dropbox app he had downloaded to her cellphone months earlier, police said. He made the girl pinky swear not to tell anyone, according to authorities.

BPS launched an investigation when the complaint was received and placed Krininger on paid administrative leave in a position where he would not have contact with children, officials said.

Police were contacted when that complaint was received, and the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Education’s Office of Professional Practices Services were also contacted.

“It sickens me, totally sickens me, to have to report this kind of news,” Superintendent Desmond Blackburn said in a news release.

The State Attorney's Office issued a warrant for Krininger on June 29, and he was arrested Wednesday.

Prior to being hired at Satellite High School more than 10 years ago, Krininger worked at Space Coast Junior/Senior High in Port St. John from 2002 to 2005.

He received a warning once in 2013 for "making inappropriate and offensive comments" to students. In his most recent evaluation before he was placed on leave, Krininger earned an "effective" rating.
