Former UCF professor arrested in child sex sting sentenced to prison

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A former University of Central Florida professor who was arrested in 2015 during an undercover operation targeting child exploitation online was recently sentenced to prison.

Stephen Schlow, 77, was charged with traveling to meet a minor and computer solicitation of a child after he was arrested as a result of Operation Cyber Summer, which was put on by eight Central Florida law enforcement agencies in July 2015.

Schlow at the time was a professor at the School of Visual Arts and Design at UCF. He was hired at the university in 2000.

In court on Monday, Schlow pleaded guilty to traveling to meet a minor, records show. The state declined to prosecute him on the solicitation charge.

The court sentenced Schlow to 21 months in prison, six of which were suspended, meaning he will serve 15 months followed by six months probation.
