Gas prices drop ahead of Thanksgiving holiday

Drivers likely to find gas under $2 a gallon, AAA says

ORLANDO, Fla. – There's good news for drivers who are planning to hit the road this Thanksgiving as gas prices have dropped ahead of the holiday.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas nationwide is $2.14. That's down from $2.85 a gallon in 2014. AAA attributes the drop to lower oil prices, lower demand, and an increase in cost for gasoline supplies.

In Florida, experts said the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $2.10, which is down 5 cents from a week ago. Some cities are seeing prices as low as $1.86.

AAA predicted that prices at the pump will continue to drop in the days leading up to Thanksgiving because of cheaper oil prices and lower demand.

Orlando Uber driver Dennis said the lower prices, coupled with higher travel numbers will be a winning weekend for him.

“It's fantastic, helps us make more money.”

Forty-eight million people are expected to hit the roads Thanksgiving weekend, which is an increase from last year when just over 46 million traveled.
