Graffiti cancels Seminole County high school pep rally, officials say

Extra security added to Seminole High School homecoming game, dance

SANFORD, Fla. – Seminole County school officials on Friday have canceled a homecoming pep rally and added extra security to its football game and dance after the school was vandalized with graffiti overnight.

The vandalism was reported at Seminole High School and the graffiti was removed on Friday.

"There are also rumors that some plan to disrupt our pep rally and homecoming festivities," school officials said in a message to parents. "We are working with law enforcement and district security staff to determine the identity of the vandals."

School officials said the vandals will be prosecuted.

"We are taking every precaution to make sure that our students are safe," officials said.

Although the pep rally was canceled, the football game and homecoming dance will go on as planned, according to officials.

"Because of concerns expressed by parents, students, and teachers, we are erring on the side of safety and cancelling this afternoon's pep rally," officials said. "Our football game and homecoming dance will go forward."

The incident comes the same day extra security was posted at Ocoee High School after a threat was posted on social media.
