Orange County detectives: No new leads in assault, abduction investigation

Victim's descriptions produce sketches of suspects nothing else

Orange County Sheriff’s Office detectives are running out of leads in three sexual assault and abduction cases that occurred within a two-week window of time in April and early May.

Two school girls and a female jogger were targeted by three different men between April 25 and May 9.
Detectives said an 11-year-old girl was abducted and raped. The other two women were able to escape their male attackers.

While all three victims provided detailed descriptions of their attackers , the sketches issued to the media have not produced any solid leads. Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt. Angelo Nieves told WKMG –TV News 6 onMonday that no arrests had been made.

“Investigators continue to work on identifying a suspect for each particular case and seeking continued assistance from the community with any leads or tips," he said in an email to WKMG-TV.

The last of the three assaults occurred on May 9 near Forest City and Riverside roads. Deputies said an 11-year-old school girl was abducted and raped by a black male about 25 to 30 years of
age.

The victim remembers an oval scar on his face.

The suspect was 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds.

Former Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Ken Cox, who said he ran the sex crimes unit for seven years, lso said It is possible these attacks were “crimes of opportunity” because all three victims were alone.

“The only people that know what actually happened are the victim and the suspect,” Cox told WKMG-TV News 6.

Cox said it is possible the three men live near the locations of the attacks.
The female jogger was attacked on May 5 by a man in a silver sedan while she was running on Jay Blanchard Trail between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

The would-be attacker pulled on her T-shirt, according to police reports, and tried to drag her to the car but she was able to get away.
On April 25, a 16-year-old high school girl was knocked down by a white male in his 20s. Detectives say he was driving an old white or beige sedan.

He tried to drag the teen into his car but a bystander was able to help her escape.

Investigators urge residents with any knowledge of the assaults to call Crime Line at 1-800-423-8477.
