Real cost of owning pet

Nearly 85 million homes have pets

If you are thinking about owning a dog, you have to consider all of the costs that can come with man's best friend. All you need is a leash, collar, food and water, right? Well, yes, but there is much more that can go into pet ownership than just their basic needs.

According to the National Pet Owners Survey, 68 percent of all households or less than 85 million homes have pets.

In the 2017 to 2018 survey,for the past year, it cost surveyors an average of $1,549 to have a pet. 

The finding of the study found that the most expensive part of pet ownership is surgical visits at $474. The cheapest and the most fun part of having a pet is play or toys for your pet at $47.

Purebred dogs available for adoption at local animal shelter

Orange County Animal Services has purebred dogs that are available for adoption. The agency has hundreds of dogs they have taken in during the 2016 fiscal year. News 6 has a list of those dogs posted below. Each dog is classified and identified by their main breed. However, some dogs could be purebreds others may be mixed with other breeds.
