People can receive resume, interviewing tips during Nov. 3 job fair

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County officials will host a job fair next month at the county's Hurricane Maria Reception Center.

County officials said the fair will be held Nov. 3 at Osceola Heritage Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They encourage anyone seeking employment to attend.

Resume writing and interviewing skills workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. until noon. Human resource employees with the county will also be there to help guests fill out job applications.

Any employers interested in attending the fair should call county's human services department at 407-742-8423.

Officials with the county's reception center, which opened this month, said the center's hours of operation were modified beginning Saturday.

The center will now be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  on Saturdays. Officials said the center will be closed on Sundays.

County officials said nearly 2,000 families had been helped since the center opened Oct. 6, including those who were helped at the Orlando International Airport location.

The Hurricane Maria Reception Center is located at 1921 Kissimmee Valley Lane, Kissimmee. Upon it's opening, county leaders said it would remain open as long as it was needed.

Evacuees arriving at the center seeking help following Hurricane Maria's devastation in Puerto Rico can apply for state identification, register for public school and get access to multiple other resources.

The county also set up an assistance line at 407-742-8598.
