Kennedy Space Center radio ad boasts 'rockets over rollercoasters'

KSC Visitor Complex tries to deter tourists from theme parks

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The new radio advertisement coming out of Kennedy Space Center's Visitor's Complex is urging listeners  to head to Brevard County for entertainment and not the theme parks.

"Kennedy Space Center visitors complex is a place for those who prefer rockets over roller coasters. A place of real up close adventure not theme park
 fantasy," the radio ad states.

Local 6 let tourists listen to the ad to see how they reacted to it. A couple visiting the theme parks from England admit they prefer roller coasters over

"It's really magical, the whole experience is fantastic," Ellie Masterman said Monday.

Tom Sullivan admits he regrets not heading to the coast with his children.

"Last time we were in Orlando we went to Disney World and honestly I wish I had brought them to the Space Center," Sullivan said Monday.

Sullivan said the rush of a roller coaster was short lived for his family, but a trip to the Kennedy Space Center could be an experience that lasts a lifetime.

The Kennedy Space Center new ad promotes the Atlantis Celebrate the Journey Event on Nov. 2.

Local 6 reached out to Kennedy Space Center for comment on the ad but didn't receive a response.
