Lamborghini splits in half, catches fire after crash in North Miami Beach

2 men taken to hospitals in stable condition

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Lamborghini split in half and briefly caught fire after an early morning crash Friday in North Miami Beach.

The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. at Northeast Third Avenue and Northeast 167th Street.

A witness recorded the fiery aftermath on Facebook Live.

He said the driver caught fire during the incident. The intensity of the flames was so severe that part of a parked car melted nearby.

North Miami Beach police confirmed that two men were in the car at the time of the crash.

One of the victims was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, while the other was taken to Aventura Hospital. Police said they were in stable condition.

Both halves of the car were placed on a flatbed truck and towed away.

Westbound lanes of Northeast 167th Street were closed in the area during the crash investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but detectives believe speed and the wet roads might have played a role in the wreck.
