Police give all clear at Legoland after bomb threat

Bomb threat called into the Winter Haven theme park false

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – After more than six hours of searching, authorities did not find any explosives at Legoland Florida. The park was evacuated Thursday afternoon after receiving a bomb threat.

A bomb threat was reported at 11:54 a.m. and all guested were safely evacuated by 12:43 p.m., Winter Haven police said.

"We have evacuated the theme park and hotel for the safety and security of guests and employees," Legoland tweeted.

Legoland is located 50 miles southwest of Orlando.

Just after 5:30 p.m. Winter Haven police said they completed the search and did not find any explosive devices.

Police said there were no injuries. The Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Tampa Police Bomb Squad, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and officials from the state Fire Marshal's Office helped police search the park.

All police resources were deployed in the search, according to Jamie Brown, Winter Haven police public information officer.

The park was closed for the rest of Thursday and will return to normal operations on Friday.

 

Guests staying at the hotel were allowed back onto the property after the property was cleared.

 

Law enforcement will continue to investigate where the threat came from.
