LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – A 911 call recorded moments after a Cirque du Soleil La Nouba performer fell 30 feet was released Thursday afternoon.
The caller provides the 911 operator details as he watches the scene from the lighting booth above the stage of the La Nouba theater at Disney Springs. The fall happened Oct. 20 around 10:15 p.m. as the Karina Silva was rehearsing an aerial act.
"An artist was on an aerial silk and fell down," the caller said during the eight-minute call.
He said she was 30-40 feet in the air when it happened. The woman's name was redacted from the 911 call.
A physical therapist and a coach stayed with Silva until first responders could arrive.
"She's not moving, there's no movement," the caller said.
The operator warns the caller not to move Silva unless she's in danger.
When paramedics arrived, the 39-year-old woman was conscious, but moaning and lying still on the stage, according to an incident report.
Silva was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center. Her current condition is unknown.
La Nouba released a statement to News 6 last week about the incident:
"Safety is our number one priority at Cirque du Soleil. At this time we are focusing on the recuperation of our team member."
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
